BTS Can’t Display VWAP

Almost One month after the implementation of Broker Trade Securities (BTS) system, we found two problems with the BTS system based on the feedback from some Remisiers and Brokers.

We found that BTS cannot display VWAP (“Volume Weighted Average Price“). Bursa has to email the VWAP list every morning to Stockbrokers. This is way to manual as compare to the old system where Stockbrokers and Dealer’s Representative can find out the VWAP directly from the BFE.

The other is that there were few days when the afternoon session to compute the theoritical opening price was halted due to system problem.

Bursa issued a circular informing Stockbrokers that they hope the second problem as stated above to resolve by February 2009 but no mention of when the VWAP can be viewed directly from the BTS.

It has been a week since Broker Trade Securities (BTS) has gone live. Pro Trade Shares has received very little feedback with regards to Bursa Malayasia new trading system.

Some brokers experience inability when they try to sell to buy-in early in the morning on the first day, 1st December 2008. Thereafter the system seems to work fine. We are still trying to get a snap shot of the BTS for you guys.

In the meantime, this being the year end and all, we at protradeshares has been on holiday. So are the remisiers that has been giving us feedback. We would probably get more information on how BTS perform in January 2009.

This might be our last posting for 2008. So……

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy Holidays if we don’t post anymore for this month.

Bursa new trading system called Bursa Trade Securities or BTS went live this morning.

Pro Trade Shares did not received any news whether there is any glitches so far. At least it went live without Bursa Malaysia resorting to fall on its backup plan. Maybe going live during a weak market with low trading volume is blessing in disguise. If the trading volume at Bursa Malaysia is higher the end result could be different.

Now Bursa Malaysia  will have time to gradually resolve any minor problem that should appear. We will keep you guys updated. So far the KLCI has fallen 8 points to 856 points at about 11am.

We will try to get a snapshot of the new BTS system to post it here.
