Green Packet clinched RM41million contract

Green Packet Bhd unit, Packet One Networks (M) Sdn Bhd (P1), has secured a contract worth RM41.5mil from the Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission to provide broadband services to underserved areas in Malaysia.

Under the project, P1 would roll out broadband services utilising 4G WiMAX in Perak and Kedah, the company said in a statement yesterday.

The deployment next year will include the provision of broadband services to homes, as well as the setting up and management of community broadband centres within those areas.

“The contract will not have any material effect on the earnings of Green Packet group for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2009, but is expected to contribute positively to the earnings of group in the future,” it sai
